“Go outside and play!” Those four words ring loudly in many of our childhood memories. Many of us can certainly remember the days of climbing trees, getting dirty and just simply playing outdoors. Recognizing that our children are overexposed to technology, KidsOutdoors, Inc. (KOI) works to connect children with nature by making the outdoors enjoyable, accessible and just plain fun!
KOI is embarking on a NEW adventure program for middle school aged Latino and African American children from stressed and underprivileged communities within Essex County. In the summer of 2017, 12 middle-school-age African American and Latino children will enjoy 1,3 day/2 night stay at Sedge Island Island Beach State Park. During their stay at Sedge Island the children will explore the marsh environment by kayak, by boat and wading into the warm waters to gather their dinner for the stay. They will also learn about the may species that inhabit the local waters of Barnegat Bay.
